Friday Feb. 23: We planned to sleep in until :00 but of coarse I was up at 7:00! We decided to have a catch up day and shopping day. We went to Galleries de Layfayette and bought souvenirs, it is the largest dept. store in Paris. The girls drooled over the $3000 purses and Randy quickly herded us up stairs to the souvenir floor. The even sell patisserie at the Dept. stores! We walked through all of the departments and floors and Lindsay found a purse she liked that was a little more reasonably priced! We stopped at the croissanterie for lunch. Jambon et frommage baguette, lemon tarte and a diet coke. Yummmm. We walked the shops on the Champs d'Elysees and then dropped our shopping off at the hotel. We took the RER (train) to Sainte Chapelle and waited in line to get in to the Conciergerie where it is. It was worth the wait the chapel was worth it. the church was so pretty and the stained glass windows were amazing. They were each 16 feet high and told the story of the entire bible. It was built by Saint Louis in the 1100's to house the relics he had purchased from Rome that are now in Notre Dame. We walked along the Seine so Kat could by a painting but everything was closed. We went on to the Eiffel tower our last stop in Paris! First we had crepes dinner at the little crepe stand on the Seine, and then Randy and I went to the middle level of the Eiffel tower and the girls went all the way to the top! I was too chicken. It was beautiful. We got there just at dusk and the twinkle lights came on when we were up there. We met Marine on the Champs d'Elysees and had dinner at an Italian-french restaurant. We were so tired. Headed back to the hotel and got in bed. Randy has a bad cold or allergies. That's one way to get your own $5 diet coke and not have to share!
